According to The Observer Dispatch, a traffic stop on Friday afternoon on the Thruway in Westmoreland resulted in Anthony M. Imbesi, owner of the Market Diner in Syracuse, facing two felony DWI charges. The state police received multiple calls about a red Dodge pick-up truck traveling erratically in the eastbound lanes. When troopers located the truck, they attempted to pull it over.
The erratic driver eventually pulled over at the Westmoreland Toll Plaza, but left his vehicle in drive when he did so, police said. Imbesi allegedly was combative and verbally abusive to officers at the scene and was taken to the state police station in Syracuse for processing. When his blood alcohol level was tested, it was found to be three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, police reported.
